Michael R. Kirby
Partner
Mike has been practicing law in the State of Florida since 1992 with extensive
litigation experience on both the plaintiff and defense side. He started
his career representing both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of
cases involving insurance issues, personal injury, and wrongful death
in county, state, appellate, and federal courts. The next 10 years were
spent defending insurance companies and their insureds, most recently
as managing attorney for Progressive Insurance Company’s Miami office.
His years of representing insurance companies bring with it a strong insight
into the inner workings and defense strategies of these large corporations,
further strengthening High Stack Gordon Kirby’s negotiating skills
and tactics.
Mr. Kirby received his Juris Doctor from St. Thomas University School of Law where he was on the Dean’s list and received book awards in Civil Trial Advocacy and Arts & Entertainment Law. He is a former Captain in the United States Air Force after having graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs with a Bachelor of Science degree. At the Academy, he was a four-year letterman in intercollegiate football as a receiver and punt returner, recipient of the Air Force Academy Outstanding Athletic Achievement Award and was named to the 1983 “Sporting News” All-American Football Second Team. He is also a graduate of the USAFA T-41 program where he learned to fly single engine aircraft, and a graduate of the Air Force’s Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) program. While in the Air Force, Mr. Kirby received the Air Force Achievement Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal. Mike resides in Viera, FL and has three daughters, Alexa, Bella and Taylor.
